Changes

September 11, 2008

Check the schedules page to see when the next club MEETING is.  We need to get everyone squared away as a full member and designate some duties for the upcoming contests.  Also we want to talk a little more in depth about the trip at the end of the semester.  Club days this week were a little plagued with bad weather and boat trouble, but don’t sweat it.  We are probably going to do two, maybe three club days in October, and they will be on weekends so scheduling conflicts wont get in the way as much.

1st Meeting Recap

September 5, 2008

So, the first meeting went pretty well.  Here are the basics of what we went over.

1.  There are meetings every Monday night at 5pm in the Rec Center room 114.  Over the course of the semester there will be 12 of these meetings.  If you, as a wakeboard club member, attend 10 out of 12 of these meetings, the club as a whole will earn points and money from the school.  The meetings are posted in the schedules section.  These aren’t “wakeboard club meetings,” they are management meetings for all of the sports club students that help the club earn funding.

2. We are planning at trip over Winter Break to Florida.  If you attend the 10 out of 12 meetings, or volunteer to help out Fabian with the contests (his email is in the officers section).  Then the club will help you out for a portion of your expenses if you go on the winter break trip.  If for some reason the trip falls through (unlikely) then you will be compensated by free boat sets/lessons in return.

3. I am going to post CLUB DAY SIGN UP TIMES over the course of the weekend.  Send me an email stating what time you wish to sign up and i will send you a confirmation email saying that you got that time or sorry, you need to sign up for another.

4.  To attend club day you must be a FULL MEMBER, meaning you have paid dues, taken the swim test, given us a copy of health insurance and student ID (scan and email to trj3366@uncw.edu), and signed the waivers.

5. We have our Collegiate Regional Qualifier on September 27th.  You are all encouraged to participate.  There will be many divisions with a wide range of skill levels- Beginner, Intermediate, Outlaw, Pro, Women, Wakeskate.  So get involved, help out, and ride for UNCW in the contest.

Club day sign ups will be posted soon, so check back regularly.

First Meeting and other news

September 3, 2008

We’re going to have our first meeting tomorrow (Thursday the 4th) in front of the Fischer Center at 8pm.  Make sure you bring a swim suit because we are going to have a swim test afterwards.  Depending on the weather we are going to have our first club day on Sunday of this week.  In order to go out on the boat, you have to have done the four things below.  If you can’t take the swim test tomorrow, you can take it any time Monday through Thursday from 8pm to 10pm in Trask.  We will be sending out emails tonight for the people who signed up during the involvement Carnival today.  If you did NOT get an email and you want to be on the email list then email one of the officers and let us know and we’ll put you on the list.  See you tomorrow night.

Rain

August 26, 2008

The bad weather we’ve had the past few days has caused the school to postpone the club fair until the following Wednesday, September 3rd.  Since relatively few of you know about club events at this point it seems futile to have the club meeting next Tuesday the second, so i will be pushing that back to Thursday, September 4th.  Thanks

There is a Schedule section at the top of the page.  This section is pretty tentative and will be changed a few times i’m sure, but this is what to go by as of right now.  Be sure to check back on it often and make sure you’re up to date.  The Sports Club Management Meetings earn points for the club for each member that attends 10 out of 12 of the meetings over the course of the semester.  It would be awesome if we could get a few dedicated people to go to these meetings and really help the club out with funding from UNCW.  Thanks.

August 20, 2008

Hey Guys,

I’ve had quite a few emails about our first meetings and practices and whatnot, which is awesome.  The club fair at UNCW is in the commons on Wednesday, August 27th.  Make sure to stop by the Wake Club booth and sign up.  Until then, check the general information and officers information at the top of the page to find out a little more background on what the club is about.  Thanks for all the questions guys, im stoked we already have so many people taking interest.
