A New Season of Wakeboarding

I know a lot of issues have arose this season in regards to my boat but thats what happens when a boat has almost 800 hours on it! It will definitely be running by the new school year and the wakeboard club will be in full circuit. Tyler, Mandy, and myself have been talking about a lot of things we want to do this year with leisure travels and competition travels, but I want to hear from you! There will definitely be some trips to East Coast Wake Park for a chance to hit rails and possibly a snowboard trip over the winter. Your club officers are open to any ideas you have! What would you like to do? As long as it is semi-reasonable and can be managed by our budget it will be considered. I doubt a trip to the phillipines to hit up Camsur Watersports Complex is likely but that would be sick! Shoot me an email at dubwake@gmail.com and let me know your ideas!

Boat News

I am getting my boat back next week. For those of you who are in Wilmington that means lets RIDE!!! It took a long time because it was a $900 repair and I didnt have the money together!

Boat Situation

So I know everyone is bummed about the boat situation but I am really working hard to get another one. The only problem this time is that my parents are not going to finance it. I will let everyone know what is going on with updates and such every week or two so you all can stay involved. In the mean time, keep checking your e-mails for info on traveling and stuff. I plan on going to Orlando this summer to do some shredding so I will let everybody know about that as well.

MEETING RECAP 3/16

I understand people got a lot of things going on and its hard to make meeting times where everyone can show up, just check Dubwake.com for updates because I will be using the website a lot.

At the meeting, I went over how I’m posting my boat up for sale because my parents lease runs up in May and they can’t afford it anymore. I will still have the boat until then and be running clubs days as long as nothing detrimental happens to it. I’m trying to work on getting a boat for the club but it is tough with this economy! If this happens, then you can take a boater’s safety course and be able to drive it yourself! That’s a work in progress though!

Also I explained how myself and the other nationals riders are working hard to get there. There is only a couple weeks left and its getting down to the wire buying planes tickets. hotels, rental cars, etc. Its a lot of work! Nationals is April 15th-19th so that weekend there will be no club days. Wish us good luck!

Now to the good stuff. We have a new t shirt design and once I get a picture of it I will post it here on the website. The other one was too expensive because of all the coloring. This weekend I am running test runs on my boat so no club days just yet. Mary Sheltra found out last year when it was her first time coming out and my boat died as soon as she got there. Sorry Mary we will get you out soon!!

That’s about it………if you have any questions let me know. I will most likely be planning club days next week depending on the weather so keep an eye out for those days. The price will still be $10 but if gas hits $3.00 than the price will go up to $15 per session. Wakeboard boats are gas guzzlers!!!

The Revealing of Kevin Henshaws new rail!!

For all of those out there who don’t already know, Kevin Henshaw is a really good wakeboarder. He is especially good on rails.

On March 13th at the East Coast Wake Park in Greenville, NC, he will be revealing a new creative rail he designed and they will be hitting it from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

SOOOOO FOR ALL OF YOU WHO ARENT GOING OUT OF TOWN FOR SPRING BREAK, THIS COULD BE A GOOD OPPURTUNITY FOR YOU TO CHECK OUT SOME SICK WAKEBOARDING!!!!

I’m def gonna try to make it up there so let me know if you are interested.

Thank you to all of those who showed up to the meeting………NOT! so Maria Smithies was the only person to show up to our meeting Friday. I know im probably going to here 100 excuses of why people couldn’t make it but its whatever. I had a couple things to say about our boat situation and other things but I will plan another meeting sometime soon to get all of those who didn’t make it filled in on whats going on. Congratulations to Justin Barnes, Nick Joseph, Matt Hemric, Lucas Kochek, and Anna Petrea. They were the five people we chose to go with your club officers to nationals and compete for the national title. Come to the next meeting to find out more info.

Club Meeting Next Friday, February 19th at 5pm

There is a club meeting next Friday, February 19th at 5:00pm in the Bald Head Island room! Be there to get updates on this upcoming Spring and Summer. There will be a lot discussed and I will also let everyone know who has been chosen to go to nationals with us. Tyler and I have chosen the best 6 riders in wakeskate(1), womens(2), and men(3) who we thought is gonna represent UNCW the best and give us a shot at the national title!
