Officer elections for next year

Hey all, hope you guys had fun at the club days this past weekend.  We are going to be having our officer elections for next year on April the 19th.  We’re gonna do another cookout at Kent’s place on the Cape Fear, so come out and do some wakeboarding and some chillin.  Also, even if you don’t plan on running for an office next year, please come out because we need people to vote.  We are also probably going to be doing some wakeboarding as well.  Email me to let me know you are coming, naj1398@uncw.edu

Spring Break Roster

Here is a list of who i have going so far for Spring Break.  If you want to go just read the post below.  I will update this list as people email me.

We are going to have a Pre-trip meeting on Feb.14th.  Bring Checks made out to the UNCW Wakeboard Club for $400.   Meeting- 5005 Hunters Trail #4 Wilmington NC, 28405.

Spring Break

Ok, so a lot of people missed out on going to Florida this Winter break.  We are going to be heading down again for a week over Spring Break.  However this will be on your own money.  Club funds are pretty tight and we need enough money to send a few people to collegiate nationals.  Fortunately this trip has no limit to the number of people.  If you choose to stay the WHOLE time at Adam’s house then you will pay $400.  Otherwise we can prorate your time there.  Send me an email if you interested in going, the sooner the better          naj1398@uncw.edu

Smith Sample Sale

Smith Optics will be having a Sample sale, Saturday November 8th at the Triangle lounge starting at 9 am.

Also, the December trip to Florida is booked up.  Here are the people going.

Don’t sweat it if you didn’t get to go this time, we will try to make another trip to Florida for Spring Break depending on club funds.

End of the Semester Trip

Hey all,

Its been pretty slow as far as the wakeboarding goes due to the weather.  Well thats alright because we are about to head down to Florida.  The tentative date we have planned is December the 13th.  We are going to stay with Adam Fields, professional wakeboarder and wakeboard coach.  If you have volunteered or helped the club out throughout the semester then this trip will only cost you travel expenses.  Dates are 9-23rd of December, but you can still for however long you want up to the two week period.  if you are interested in taking this trip or have any questions email me at naj1398@uncw.edu.  ONLY EMAIL ME IF YOU ARE SERIOUS.  thanks a lot, look forward to hearing from you.

Regional Results

Well, UNCW came out first in the regional.  Thats pretty good because we would look like idiots if we lost our own contest.  Anyways, thanks for everyone who came out to volunteer, ride, or just support the crew.  It was good times for sure.  Here are some notable finishes

Even Netch- 1st place beginner

Rachel Keels – 2nd place women (my bad)

Ricky Everington- 1st place intermediate

Justin Barnes- 1st place outlaw

Doug Rainey- 2nd place wakekate

Fabian Ashley- 1st place pro

Justin Sellers- 2nd place pro

Va Tech ended up taking 2nd, and the University of Kentucky barely edged out NC State for the last spot to go to Nationals.  The location for nationals this year is still up in the air, but hopefully it ends up being Texas or Florida or somewhere warm.

Don’t forget to sign up for the club day at the top.  We are going to have another club day the weekend of the 18th, and 19th if you can’t make this one.  Later

Contest

quick word about the contest to all UNCW students, you will be reimbursed your entry fee and insurance costs so don’t sweat the dollars.

Gravity

Fabian, a friend, and I are going to a rail park in Georgia next weekend.  Thursday 18th thru Sunday the 21st.  Originally we had 5 people to go, making it 70 a person per day.  However two of the people dropped out and we are looking for two more.  The total will be 180 plus Gas, if any of you have an interest in hitting rails, give me a shout at my email naj1398@uncw.edu and come with us.  This isn’t a UNCW Club thing, its just some of us going down to hit rails, which is a rare opportunity.  Let us know if you want to go.

Changes

Check the schedules page to see when the next club MEETING is.  We need to get everyone squared away as a full member and designate some duties for the upcoming contests.  Also we want to talk a little more in depth about the trip at the end of the semester.  Club days this week were a little plagued with bad weather and boat trouble, but don’t sweat it.  We are probably going to do two, maybe three club days in October, and they will be on weekends so scheduling conflicts wont get in the way as much.
